DICKINSON - Sammie Rea Avara, 78, of Dickinson for fifteen years, formerly of La
Marque, passed away Saturday August 26, 2000, at her residence. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 30, 2000, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. Funeral services will be atlO:00 a.m. Thursday, August
31, 2000, at the funeral home with the Rev. Sharon Sabom officiating. Burial will
follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock.

Mrs. Avara was born January 11, 1922. She.was a history teacher for .LMISD, retiring after 25 years of teaching. Mrs. Avara is survived by her husband, Tom Avara, of Dickinson; sons, Thomas Avara and wife Julie of Anderson, Texas,
and Jerry Ray Avara of Channelview, Texas; brother, James Rea and wife Jenny; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be John Avara, Skipper Avara, Tommy Avara and Jerry Avara. Memorials may be made to
Amed Hospice, 2919 Palmer Hwy., Texas City, TX 77590.
