Mrs. Eddie Mae Stockton, age 83 of Crockett, passed away Monday, January 21, 2008 in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett. Mrs. Stockton was born in Bedias, Texas on November 8, 1924 and had moved to Freeport at an early age. Mrs. Stockton always said that she was so very blessed with her Christian heritage that her grandparents on both sides of her family and her mother and daddy were good Christians. After World War II, she moved to Houston and in 1948 met Wayne Stockton and they had a blessed marriage for 52 years. Mrs. Stockton was blessed with one of the best husbands, two wonderful sons, a granddaughter and grandson. Their grandchildren were always a joy, not only to Mrs. Stockton, but to the whole family to watch Papa Wayne play with his grandchildren. Mrs. Stockton was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 984 where she was initiated on November 22, 1971. They had moved to Crockett in 1978 and she was a volunteer at Whitehall Nursing Center where she loved and enjoyed helping the elderly. Mrs. Stockton was a wonderful homemaker, loved taking care of her family and having a clean home with everything in order. Mrs. Stockton was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Crockett.
Survivors include her sons Dwayne Stockton and wife Frieda, of Austin, Kenneth Stockton, of Crockett; grandchildren Jessica Stockton and Adam Stockton, both of Austin; brother Dan Adams and wife Betty, of Houston; brother-in-law J. Van Stockton and wife Gwynn, of Dallas; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by her husband Wayne R. Stockton.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Eddie Mae Stockton will be held Friday, January 25, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John Goss officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park.
