Henry I. Ruth, long time area farmer, died at his home north-west of Cherokee, Wednesday, May 15, 1940. Mr. Ruth was born in York County, Pennsylvania, March 3, 1872. When he was 22 years old he moved to Illinois. He married Olive(Ollie) Holley of Adair, Illinois in 1899. They moved to Kansas in 1901. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cherokee and the A.O.U.W.

He is survived by the widow of the home, one daughter, Stella Marshbanks of McCune. Four sons, Harry Ruth of Girard, Wilbur Ruth of Cherokee, Wilford and Orval Ruth of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Six sisters: Mary Stambaugh, Nettie Gunnet, Elsie Baugher all of Spring Grove Pa. and Alice Baer and Mellie Albers of Seven Valley's, Pa. and Lovie Brenneman of Mt. Union,Iowa. Four brothers: Noah Ruth of Adair, Illinois, Paul Ruth of Spring Grove, Pa. and Nathaniel and Martin Ruth of York, Pa. and 5 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 17, 1940 at the First Presbterian Church and burial was in the Cherokee Cemetary.
