Evelyn Tanner Miller
December 31, 1946 — October 2, 2022
North Salt Lake, UT

With the complete nuclear family present, Evelyn Miller passed away on October 2nd at 11:38 AM at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City.

She was born on December 31, 1946 at the Utah Valley Medical Center in Provo, Utah to George Tanner and Helen Marr (Strong) Tanner. She graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City in 1965. On September 27, 1966 Evelyn Tanner married Chris Lavell Miller in Salt Lake County. She is survived by her husband Chris Miller born January 22, 1941.

Evelyn was de-facto head of household for the Miller family and kept the household running smoothly. She was a prolific note taker and organizer, any legal or business details pertaining to the family were all organized, arranged, and processed by her. Any road trips her and Chris went on after Chris retired were organized around mom's prodigious note taking and organizing skills.

Evelyn was a "prayer warrior" within the several Pentecostal churches she attended and was a key member of the local prayer groups or chains.

Evelyn had a dry sense of humor. After a lot of back and forth with her walker while shopping for a rocking chair recently, mom asked if she could be placed in a wheelchair. After being placed in the wheelchair her tired children Kelly and Clint started to place brochures, notes, and other frippery into mom's hands to manage because they were tired of carrying these things. It wasn't very long before mom piped up and said, "Now I understand what a shopping cart feels like!" The salesclerk had a good chuckle over that.

Evelyn's faith in the Lord made her a light on the hill. You couldn't not notice this. On the advanced care floor of the LDS hospital there was a gritty aura of mortality, fate. In my mom's room, however, she rose above. A flower blossoming in a dry, hard place was my mother's inner peace giving perch to a refreshing sense of happiness and humor that many not only noticed but were attracted to. There were many hugs and laughs/tears in her room between her and most hospital staff who came through her door for those few brief days.

Mom loved rainbows. A rainbow had a slender chance of going un-notice when she was around. Yes, God's promise, for sure, but mom loved the optimism too. She had lots of diamond cut glass pendants that would cast rainbows on the walls of our house, and she was endlessly happy in a room full of rainbows and light.

Evelyn Miller is also survived by her 3 children, Clint Lavell Miller (no children) currently in Eagle Mountain Utah, Kelly Rae Miller (1 daughter Pilar) in Lafayette Colorado, and Brody Chris Miller (1 daughter McKenzie, 1 son Brennan) from Ogden Utah.

The cause of the death of Evelyn Miller was ovarian cancer. In lieu of flowers any donations can be sent to https://ocrahope.org/.

There will be an informal memorial service for Evelyn Miller at the Abundant Life Assembly of God church, 410 N. Main St, North Salt Lake, Utah on Saturday, October 8, 2022, starting at 1:00 p.m. Casual attire is perfectly fine.
