Funeral services will be Fri., Feb. 8, for Lois Darlene Sass, 77, Lake Preston, who died on Feb. 1, 2008, at Kingsbury Memorial Manor in Lake Preston. The Rev. Bill Hoffman will officiate in Lake Preston United Methodist Church, and burial will be in Lake Preston Cemetery.

Visitation at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Chapel in Lake Preston with an Eastern Star service to follow.

Lois Beck was born on Oct. 25, 1930, at Lake Preston to Melvin H. and Achsa (Nelson) Beck.

She married Milburn Sass on June 26, 1949, at Lake Preston. She was a cafeteria cook at Lake Preston High School, and a nurse's aide at the Kingsbury Memorial Hospital and Manor in Lake Preston and also at the Good Samaritan Center in DeSmet.

She was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, holding both local and state offices. She was as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Women's Fellowship.

Survivors include her husband, Milburn of Lake Preston; six daughters, Susan (Lanny) Olson of Lake Preston, Deborah (Blaine) Miller of Whittier, Calif., Becky (Dale) Schroeder of Flandreau, Shari Sass of Lake Preston, Tammy Kerr of Spencer, and Audra (Roger) Wilson of Badger; a son, Terry of Lake Preston; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Marilynn Abel of Sturgis; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Howard and Merwin Beck; four sisters, Margaret Tschetter, Helen Marie Webster, Leila Bowes and Jean Pederson; and a grandson.
