ARAPAHOE -- Bonnie D Wendland-Pfeiffer, 72, formerly of Holbrook, died Thursday (Jan. 31, 2008) at the Elwood Care Center in Elwood.

She was born May 9, 1935, at Arapahoe to Walter L. and D. Velma (Dunlap) Breinig. She was baptized into faith in 1943, at the First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe. She graduated from Arapahoe High School with the class of 1953.

On June 15, 1957, she was united in marriage to Fobert J. Wendland at Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Arapahoe. They made their home in Arapahoe and she would work at Moore's Supermarket, Wagner's Supermarket and Williamson Funeral Home and Wenburg Funeral Home, all of Arapahoe. On Oct. 11, 1995, her husband, Robert passed away.

She would then marry Lyle Pfeiffer on Dec. 12, 1998, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe. They made their home at Holbrook. Due to health reason she would then have to move to the Elwood Care Center.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Eastern Star of Arapahoe and was a leader for the local Girl Scouts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert and sister, Connie Sander.

Survivors include her husband, Lyle Pfeiffer of Holbrook; son, LeRoy and wife, Kristine Wendland of Elwood; daughters, Elizabeth Heckenlively and friend, Jerry Albricht of Scottsbluff and Diann and husband, Steve Cooksley of Elwood; sister, Donna and husband, Leland McCoy of Arapahoe; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, 1:30 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. David Otten, officiating. Burial will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery.

Viewing and visitation is today until 8 p.m., Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
