James "Jim" A. Franks of rural Sherrard, IL passed away at his home on September 25, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born on August 7, 1944 in Poinsett County, Arkansas, the son of Benton and Buelah (Sides) Franks. The family moved to Illinois when Jim was 14.

Jim worked for John Deere and retired in 1989 after 26 years of service.

Jim married the love of his life and best friend, Lynn (Linda) Craig on March 29, 1963. They had two daughters, Tammy Lynn and Jamie Irene.

Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, classic cars, riding motorcycles, exploring his property, working in his garage, gardening, wildlife, reading, auto racing, photography, his wife's cooking, and his sweets and coffee. Although, his favorite thing to do was to get together and visit with all of his family and friends.

He loved traveling with his wife and dog, Sazi, and taking his wife out for dinner.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Benton and Buelah Franks; daughter, Jamie Franks; and his sisters, Sara Darlene Mills, and Judy DeSchepper.

Per Jim's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
