Shirley Arline Wilson Brown was born on September 30, 1923 in Coffeyville, Kansas as the third child of Charles Wilson and Audree Fern Green and departed on September 25, 2022 in Cypress, Texas after a life of 98 years, 360 days. She lived all of her early years in Coffeyville and graduated from Field Kinley High School in 1941. She immediately obtained employment as a telephone operator and spent the war years working in this capacity. Marriage to William Robert Brown occurred on Easter Sunday, April 25, 1943 in a backyard ceremony at the home of her parents. Following WWII, employment with Phillips Petroleum took Shirley and Bob to the Gulf Coast and many other different locations during his career. While employment took them to a variety of locations over the years, the later years were all spent in Houston.

Shirley enjoyed participating in many volunteer civic functions with her membership at Memorial Drive

United Methodist Church and the Bridgebuilders class being at the core. She also participated in the Order of Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron. She proudly participated in the Mayflower Society's Houston Colony as a descendant of five of the Mayflower passengers plus a number of Revolutionary War Patriots. Her study of genealogy was a strong interest but at the time of her search the great tools that we have today were not available. Never the less, she created the ground work that assisted in further refinement and validation of her heritage. Shirley was a gracious and willing hostess plus an excellent cook which were skills she learned from her mother. She was truly a help mate to her husband during his career.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert " Bob" Brown, her parents, all three of her sisters and her son Richard. She is survived by her son Robert (Marcy) of Littleton, CO and daughter Kathleen Waugh (Lloyd) of Cypress, Texas, grandchildren Paul Brown of Highlands Ranch, CO., Christy Grosjean of Phoenix, AZ, Tyler Brown (Karra) of Littleton, CO, Cliff Stahl (Kim) of Scottsdale, AZ, Kendall Waugh and Jenna Waugh both of Cypress, TX plus six great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by six nephews and three nieces.
