Death Takes Henry Brimmer At Rialto Home Prominent Rancher, Civic Leader Was Resident 50 Years

RIALTO, May 5 Henry Arthur Brimmer, 74, prominent Rialto rancher and civic leader, died early today at his home, 1705 Foothill boulevard. A native of Wisconsin, he had resided in Rialto and California for 50 years. At the time of his death Mr Brimmer was vice president of the Rialto Citrus association. He was one of the organizers of the Mutual Land and Water Co. and its president for 10 years and had served as zanjero of the Lytle Creek Water Co. for 23 years. He was a charter member of the Rialto Christian church and a member of the board of elders and was serving as church clerk at the time of his death.
PLANTED EARLY GROVE
Prior to Coming to Rialto Mr. Brimmer was for several years an instructor in penmanship and shorthand in Indianapolis. He came to Rialto in 1896 and shortly after his arrival planted one of the district's early citrus groves at Foothill boulevard and Meridian avenue, where he had since made his home. He spent four years in the nursery business in Redlands but maintained his Rialto property. Mr. Brimmer had long been active in community affairs and during World War I was a leader in Red Cross work and Liberty loan drives.
FUNERAL THURSDAY
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ruby Brimmer; two sons, Porter Brimmer of Rialto and Maurice Brimmer of Laguna Beach, and one brother, Merton Brimmer of Rialto. Four grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Ingold chapel in Rialto, with interment following in Rialto Park cemetery.

Funeral services for Henry Arthur Brimmer, widely known, longtime resident of Rialto, with the Rev. C. N. Balch officiating. Mrs. Catherine Forbes played several selections on the chapel organ.

The chapel was filled to capacity by friends of the pioneer resident. Scores of floral pieces decked the chapel walls. Pallbearers were Harry Boyd, George Shearer, James Ross, Wayne Weller, Carl Tinker and Richard Manning. Burial was in the family plot in Rialto Park cemetery.
