Roland Behrends was called home by his Lord and Savior, with family by his side, on his 94th Birthday, Thursday September, 22nd, 2022. Roland was born on September 22, 1928 in Gillespie County to Edgar and Anna (Boos) Behrends. He graduated from FHS with the Class of 1946. Roland married the love of his life, Alice Feller of Harper, TX on August 30, 1950 at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Roland and Alice most recently celebrated their 72nd Wedding Anniversary at their home in Fredericksburg, TX joined by their loving family.
Roland was a hard-working rancher, farmer and carpenter taking great pride in his work and ownership of his land & livestock. His passion for the game of tennis was most enjoyed when shared with his friends and family, but his love for playing cards & dominoes best showcased his competitive spirit. Roland also enjoyed many hours in his hunting blinds and fishing from his pond.
Roland is survived by his wife and his three children, Doris (Sammy) Segner, Ron (Linda) Behrends, Rodney (Genia) Behrends. Roland, Opa was blessed with 7 Grandchildren, Jennifer Spies, Kim Franks, Stephanie Staackmann, Kay Weir, Stacy Vasquez, Hannah Walker, Ryan Behrends and 10 Great Grandchildren, Jaci, Reed, Riley, Addie, Chase, Chloe, Brooklyn, Molly, Isla and Mickey. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Marvin and Lester Behrends.
