Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa. Full Military Rites will be accorded following the service by the American Legion Post 33 Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4 to7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Donald was born on March 12, 1930 in Ottawa to Otto and Ruth (Ovelman) Armstrong. He was a graduate of Ottawa High School. Donald worked as a welder for over 40 years and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Sharon L. Hanlon on June 29, 1972 in Ottawa. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints in Ottawa. He loved car shows and going to his grandchildren's sports events.
He is survived by his eight children: Jason (Stephanie) Armstrong of Morris, Amy (Tony) Zulfer of Sheridan, Jeff Armstrong of Branson, MO, Joe Seaman of Oklahoma, Rusty (Anne) Armstrong of Ohio, Jon Armstrong of Ohio, Cindy (Bill) Sharp of Ohio, Ruth Anne Armstrong; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother: Bob (Doris) Carr of Ottawa; and two sisters: Patsy Wagner of Ottawa and Judy Green-Miskell of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Sharry; a daughter: Penny; four brothers: Vernon Bayer, Oliver Carr, Jack Carr, and David Carr; and four sisters: Ruth Mita Moore, Jeanne Cooper, Virginia Truty, and Rita Marie Carr.
