Virginia E. "Jane" Tufts, daughter of Francis Tufts (1780 MA-26 June 1849 Blountsville, Jones Co. GA) and Mary P. Milner Tufts (1809 GA - 1878 GA) and sister of Sanford M. Tufts. She married William Alexander Wilson from Marion Co.SC in 1860 in Baldwin Co.GA. They had two daughters, Ann, born 1862; and Nellie, born 18 Jan 1865. William Alexander Wilson was severely wounded in the War, and was taken to the home of Sanford Tufts, where he eventually died according to his obituary, dated 4 Oct 1864,. His burial placed is unknown, assumed to be in Jones Co.[114375538] His widow and daughters went to Marion Co. SC for the settling of William's parents' estate in 1868, and her brother-in-law, Benjamin F. Wilson, helped procure some of the estate for her two daughters. Jane and her daughters returned to Jones Co. and were listed with Tufts relatives in 1870. When her sister-in-law, Rebecca E.Wilson, died in 1873, Jane returned to SC and became the caretaker of the household, eventually marrying Benjamin Wilson. They lived in Mayesville, SC, where they had one son, Milton Bradley Wilson. Jane's daughter, Nellie married W.F.Barnes and they lived in Spartanburg,SC. It was there that Jane died in 1914, and her body was sent to Macon, where she was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, according to her funeral notice in the Macon Daily Telegraph .
