Madison Bradshaw was born in Bath County, KY in March 1825, the son of James Bradshaw. He married Elizabeth Ann Barnes on January 6, 1848 in Monticello, Piatt County, IL. They had 7 children. He was a Pvt. 4 Ill. Inf., Mexican War. Enrolled June 13, 1846, discharged at New Orleans May 25, 1847.

MEXICAN WAR VETERAN DIES--Madison Bradshaw Was Eighty-Six Years Old.
Madison Bradshaw died at 4:30 Thursday afternoon at his home in Harristown township. He would have been eighty-six years old March 16. His death was due to the infirmities of age and to a bronchial trouble.
He was born in Kentucky March 16, 1825 but came to Illinois when he was a small child and resided in the vicinity of Decatur for eighty-one years, the last twenty years being spent at Harristown.
MEXICAN WAR VETERAN.
He was a veteran of the Mexican war and participated in several battles. He was a carpenter, but retired from actual work several years ago. He was justice of the peace at Harristown for some time. He was well known to all of the older inhabitants of the county and to every one in the vicinity of Harristown. He was a member of the Christian church in Harristown. He was formerly a member of the Methodist church, but for some reason he left that church.
LEAVES FIVE CHILDREN.
Besides his aged wife he is survived by five children, Mrs. Mary O. Miller, 1337 East Herkimer street, Decatur; Samuel Bradshaw, 645 South Oakland avenue, Decatur; Frank C. Bradshaw, 735 North Broadway, Decatur, and John H. Bradshaw both of Harristown. He was the father-in-law of F. C. Hanks (Seth Columbus Hanks) of Decatur, whose wife (Susan Frances Bradshaw Hanks) died several years ago. He leaves thirty grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the residence.
The interment will be in the Wyckles cemetery.

The funeral of Madison Bradshaw was held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Christian church in Harristown. The services were conducted by Rev. E. H. Wright, the pastor. The church was crowded to its full capacity. The music was furnished by the regular choir. The pallbearers were John Camp, Jerome Eyman, Jacob Lebo, R. O. Vangilder, H. E. Wynkoop and Ira Bickford. The interment was at the Wyckle cemetery.
