April 12, 1949 - Nov. 27, 2007
Ole suffered a massive heart attack November 19, 2007, while living and working in Mt Vernon, WA. He was welcomed "Home" on November 27, 2007, by his Lord. There to greet him was his mother (2003) and father (1977).
Ole was born April 12, 1949, in Fort Lewis, WA, to Harvey and Marie Solberg.
His early years were spent in Ketchikan, Alaska where he inherited his life long love for salmon fishing. He always insisted "smoking" was the best and ONLY way to eat salmon. His father's military career caused the family to move to Arizona and, after his father's retirement, to Everett, his father's boyhood home.
Ole enlisted in the Army in 1967 and served three years in Vietnam, where he obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. His awards included: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal (3), Republic Of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Sharpshooter Badge M-16.
Later, Ole worked security and apartment maintenance for several large complexes in Arizona, Oregon and Washington. He was well liked and much appreciated. Ole took great pride in his work and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Ole is survived by four daughters; and three grandchildren. He leaves two brothers, Laddie (WA) and John (NC); sister, Jenny (WA); and "the love of his life", Shelly (WA).
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 7, 2008, at Evergreen Cemetery 4504 Broadway, Everett.
