Walter S. Burkett, 83, of Timblin, died Sunday, March 2, 1986, at Brookville Hospital.
Mr. Burkett was born April 7,1902, in Oliver Township, Jefferson county, the son of Jacob I. and Catherine (Brocious) Burkett. He was married December 24, 1929, to Ruth M. Thompson, who preceded him in death April 11,1981.
Mr. Burkett was a retired electrician and repairman for the coal mines. He was a member of the Timblin Nazarene Church and the United Mine Workers of America.
Surviving relatives include one daughter, Mrs. Clair (Elizabeth) Emery of Brookville R.D. 1; two sons: Donald Burkett of Distant, and Harold Burkett of Timblin; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Nellie Horner of Punxsutawney; and one brother, Leonard Burkett of Punxsutawney R.D. 5.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Burkett was preceded by a sister, Mary Belle Burkett, and three brothers, Jesse Burkett, Paul Burkett FAG#10703866, and Glenn Burkett.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Deeley Funeral Home of Punxsutawney. The Rev. Robert Janacek will officiate. Interment will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park near Reynoldsville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m.
