Manuel married Porfiria February 1965. During 1966 Manuel boarded a train with ten dollars in his pocket and left for Flint, Michigan and arrived in a t-shirt and shorts to a 22-degree day in January. He called his uncle to tell him that he had arrived at the train station. He applied at General Motors and was hired. Manuel moved his family to Michigan where he was employed by General Motors for 35 years and retired in 2001.
He leaves behind his wife, Porfiria Hernandez and their children, Brenda and Orlando, 6 grandchildren and surviving siblings.
Preceded by his son, Ray and parents and sister Linda Garcia.
