Evelyn Mary Gilsoul, 69, a 20-year resident of Chelan, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1987, at home following a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 13, 1917, at Randall, Minn., to Joseph and Elizabeth (Bentler) Carrier and attended school at Randall. She married Clifford A. Gilsoul on Nov. 14, 1934, at International Falls, Minn., where they made their home. They moved to Somerset, Wis., in 1947 and farmed, then moved to Chelan in 1967.
Mrs. Gilsoul received her licensed practical nurse training at Wenatchee Valley College and had been employed at Lake Chelan Community Hospital. She was active for many years with the American Red Cross blood drawings and assisted serving meals at the Chelan Senior center. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Chelan Eagles Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Clifford, at home; three sons, Tony and Pat, both of Chelan, and Jerome of Manson; three daughters, Marilyn Johansen of White Bear Lake, Minn., Evelyn Rose Holloway of Roseville, Minn., and Kathleen McKenzie of Cle Elum; a brother, Dick Carrier of Winlock; three sisters, Ann Micknal and Peggy Skaro, both of International Falls, and LOretta DeMont, St. Paul, Minn.; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Additional information: The family moved from Randall to International Falls, MN in 1927, where Evelyn became good friends with Isabelle Gilsoul.
In 1934, Evelyn married her friend's brother, Clifford Gilsoul.
Evelyn raised 6 children, then pursued a nursing career.
