Ronald Lee Giles, 85, of Altavista died Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

He was born July 14, 1936, in Pittsylvania County, a son of the late John Lewis Giles and Elizabeth DeMott Giles.

He was the husband of the late Genevieve Yeatts Giles for fifty-seven years.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn Giles, Larry Giles, and Leslie Giles; and three sisters, Mary "Dib" Jessie, Virginia Moran, and Nancy Robertson.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Left to cherish his memories are a daughter, Jennifer Giles Drake and her husband, Edward of Glen Allen; a son, Ronald Lewis Giles and his wife, Kim of Altavista; one brother, Donald Giles of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Emily Raye Giles, Matthew Giles Drake, and Nicholas Edward Drake; a number of beloved nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, Gizzie.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2022, at Altavista Memorial Park by the Rev. David Bayse with military honors by American Legion Altavista Memorial Post 36 and Gretna Post 232. The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9956. Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista is in charge of arrangements.
