31 Jan 2008: Emma M. Shirk, 79, Myerstown, died Tuesday, January 29, 2008, in Lebanon Good Samaritan Hospital. She was the wife of Luther M. Shirk, to whom she was married 60 years. She was born in Richland January 2, 1929, daughter of the late Samuel Y. and Carrie M. Reedy Gettle. She was a homemaker whom dearly loved her family. Surviving in addition to her husband are sons Dennis R., husband of Sandra L. Shirk, Myerstown, James L., husband of Laurie Shirk, AK; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother Allen, husband of Florence Gettle, Lebanon; sisters Marian Lux, Lebanon, Edith Boyer, Myerstown, Annetta, wife of Phillip Showers, Rexmont, Jeannetta, wife of Nicholas Ginnetto, Lebanon, and their families. She was preceded in death by brothers Harry Gettle, Samuel Gettle; sisters Anna Lutz, Mildred Lutz, Edna Olesh and Nancy Gettle. Funeral Friday at Rohland Funeral Home, Lebanon.
