Mrs. Rachel Genevieve Lassiter of DIaz, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the age of 91. She was born October 3, 1930 in the Denton Island Community, the daughter of Robert and Chister Ion (Turner) Guffey.
Mrs. Lassiter was saved in September of 1949 at Greenhaw Community Church and baptized at First Baptist Church of Tuckerman. She was a member of Diaz Baptist Church for 46 years, later becoming a member of Newport First Baptist. She was a devoted church member who sang in the choir, participated in a ladies quartet, and taught Sunday School over 60 years. Mrs. Lassiter enjoyed cooking at church on Wednesday evenings, and was a member of the Precepts Bible Study Group. She absolutely loved her church, and enjoyed studying the Bible.
Mrs. Lassiter was an avid gardener, who enjoyed being outside. She was a talented seamstress, as well. Mrs. Lassiter loved her family dearly, and relished each and every visit from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
On August 17, 1946, Miss Rachel Genevieve Guffey was married to Mr. William Louis Lassiter, and together they enjoyed 56 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lassiter; one son-in-law, Phil Wesson; two great-grandsons, Phillip Lane Wesson and Jacob Cole Wesson; one brother, W.R. Guffey; two sisters, Velma Warren and Mary Ann Durham; and her parents.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday at Newport First Baptist Church with Dr. Greg Dills officiating. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church Friday morning, 9:30 until service.
Her grandsons and great-grandsons are honored to serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Ben Hopper and Gordon Fletcher.
