Clayton was the second child born to Roxanna Moore and George Calvin Ross at his parents home near LaJose. In 1900 they lived in the Sanborn Precinct Of Woodward Twp., Clearfield County. Clayt married Ruth Barrett in 1918, but went into the army and to France to WW I a few months later. He served about one year then returned home and began work as a hard working laborer, coal miner, truck driver, and carpenter. His wife, Ruth died suddenly in 1949, while his oldest daughter Betty was away on the Island of Guam in the Western Pacific, with her soldier husband. Clayt gave away his youngest daughter JoAnn in marriage in 1950. After that he continued to work while traveling around to his children's homes for extended and welcome visits. He was living with his daughter Betty's family in Dundalk, Maryland when struck by a car while walking nearby. He died soon after from his injuries in a Baltimore hospital with Betty by his side. He was a wonderful grandfather, and I missed seeing him growing much older.
