Funeral services for Alcee Roger, 81, of Carencro, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peters Catholic Church in Carencro. He died at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, 1993, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Burial will follow in the St. Peters Catholic Mausoleum with the Rev. Fred Swenson, pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, officiating.
Musical selections for the service will be provided by Tony Broussard and the songs will be How Great Thou Art, "The Old Rugged Cross", "Amazing Grace", "Jesus What a Wonder You Are" and "Wind Beneath My Wings".
Survivors include: his wife, the former Evelyn Babineaux of Carencro; a son, Jimmie Roger of Carencro; a daughter, Penny Roger of Carencro; three brothers, Leopold Roger of Carencro, Euric Roger of Scott and Alex Roger of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Albert (Jo Ann) Dugas of Lafayette and Mrs. Elmo (Birdie) Begnaud of Scott; six grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sadie Roger and the former Amanda Guillot, both natives of Carencro; a son, J. Roger, three brothers and two sisters.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro and was a parishioner of St. Peters Church.
Visitation will be held today from 9 a.m.-lO p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. until service time. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be Jimmie Roger Jr., Morris Fruge, John Blanchard, Herman Clause, Joseph Lloyd Albarado Jr., and David Conques. Honorary pallbearers will be Leopold Roger, Kenneth Breaux Jr., Keith Thibodeaux Jr., Shannon Thibodeaux and Edward Brod Guilbeau.
