She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Francis (Frank) Brown.
Mrs. Brown worked in the accounting office for W.H. Penny Enterprises for ten years, in Research Economic & Development at the Durham Chamber of Commerce for fifteen years, as a Financial Secretary at First Baptist Church of Durham for four years and in procurement card management at Duke Clinical Research Institute for five years until retiring. She was a member of Grey Stone Church in Durham.
Mrs. Brown never met a stranger and loved to meet new people. She was fond of her time at each job and was especially proud of her time at the Durham Chamber of Commerce where she got the opportunity to meet a wide range of people and watch the city develop. Nothing was more important to her than her family, especially her son. She was the loudest voice in a crowd at Jeff's sporting events and you knew better than to say anything bad about her son! Spending any time around her meant you were likely to hear about her family and how proud she was of everyone. Leaving a conversation with Mrs. Brown meant you probably had a good laugh and knew a short tale about her or the family.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her son, Jeff (Jessica) Brown; grandchildren, Ryan Brown, Aaron Brown; sisters, Frances Daniel, Shirley Hale; brother, Arthur (Alice) Falkner; nieces, Denise (Dan) Holmes, Amy Franklin, Christie Tisinger; nephews, Kevin Falkner, Tim Hale; great nieces, Evynne Franklin, Isabel Falkner, Elena Falkner, Sarah Tisinger; and great nephews, Ethan Franklin and Ben Tisinger.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 15 at Grey Stone Church with Dr. Clay Waters officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church.
The family is being assisted by Clements Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. in Durham.
