William J Mihelich

East Detroit - William J Mihelich, 72, father of East Detroit Mayor William A Mihelich died Sunday at Boca Raton, Fla.

Mr Mihelich was owner of the William Mihelich and son Inc., Nurseries of Warren and Mount Clemens which he founded 41 years ago. At one time his nurseries housed the largest test rose garden in Michigan.

He was a charter member of the Warren Optimist Club the Metropolitan Detroit Landscape Association, the Detroit Rose Society and the East Detroit Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to his son he is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Mrs Roberta Cole of Fullerton Calif., brothers Joseph Sr of St Clair Shores, John of Detroit and Michael of East Detroit; sisters Mrs Mary Sarosik, Mrs Rose Hribar, Mrs Ruth Drobnich and Mrs Alice Majerowicz all of East Detroit eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was prdcessed by a brother George.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am Friday at St Veronica Church 21440 Universal Drive, East Detroit with the Rev Stanley Wyczawski and the Rev Richard Rakoczy officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery Clinton Township.

A rosery will be said at 8 pm Thursday in the SK Schultz Funeral Home 21705 Gratiot, East Detroit Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Michigan Cancer Foundation.
