Ralph was born in LaMoille Township, to Otto and Bessie (Hicks) Schultz on Aug. 5, 1928, the youngest of nine children, Claude, Frank, Clarence, Harry, Irene (Stewart), Ruth (Hoffman-Haefner), Garney and Crystal (Alexander), all of whom preceded him in death.
Ralph married the love of his life, Lolla Faye Cox on Oct. 26, 1951. Ralph and Lolla raised their family in Compton, Illinois. They were the proud parents of four children, three sons and their wives and one
daughter and her husband. They have eight grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.
Ralph was a friend to many and valued his customers to whom he delivered fuel when working for Lee FS. He was a skilled electrician, owner and operator of Ralph Schultz and Sons Electric. He enjoyed working for his customers and mentoring the next generation of electricians.
Ralph was community minded. Ralph was a Compton Village Trustee, Elks Club member and member of Compton United Methodist Church where he served on the board for many years as well as many other committees. Ralph never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Ralph and Lolla enjoyed travel and time with family and friends. Ralph will be missed by many.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church with Rev. Dana Cox officiating. Cremation rites will be held after the funeral and private burial will be at Melugin Grove Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Memorials will be designated to Mendota Area Senior Services.
