George was one of 14 children born to parents Peter and Maria Gleiser. He was born in St. Jacob's Woolwich Twp; in 1867.

He lived most of his life in Waterloo, Ontario.

On September 13, 1892, George married Elizabeth Liphardt (1868-1947) in Waterloo. He was 25 years old. Marriage Register #012016.
