Peter was born in Waterloo Village in the year 1844. His parents were George Gleiser (1816-1894) and Catherine Wilker (1824-1889). He lived his entire life in Waterloo County.

On Nov. 12, 1865, Peter married Mary Schmidt in Waterloo County. They raised 15 children;
1. George Gleiser 1866-1950.
2. Christina Gleiser (Mueller) 1867-1945.
3. Conrad Gleiser 1869-
4. Catherine Gleiser (Braun) 1871-1894.
5. Mary Gleiser 1873-1875.
6. Anna Clara Gleiser (Nicol) 1874-1948.
7. Alonzo Arthur Gleiser 1876-1941.
8. Charles Henry Gleiser 1878-
9. Elizabeth Gleiser (Lippert) 1880-
10. Martha Gleiser 1882-1882.
11. Julius Gleiser 1883-1910.
12. Nelda Mary Gleiser 1886-
13. John Edward Gleiser 1888-1906.
14. Frederick Lewis Gleiser 1893-1893.

and they adopted another child named Maude (Witthuhn) 1894-1960.

Peter died of sudden Heart Failure in his 75th year.
