Robert Ellwood Ellis, Sr., age 93, former resident of Shelby passed away Friday, August 12, 2022.

He was born June 13, 1929 in Shelby to Henry E. and Stella D. (Schivinski) Ellis. He had resided in Shelby for many years before moving to Mansfield in 2000. Robert was a 1947 graduate of Shelby High School and had attended Bowling Green and the Ohio State Universities. He retired from the General Services Administration as a Quality Assurance Specialist after 36 years of Federal Level Service. Robert was a 70 year member of the Shelby #350 Masonic Lodge where he served as Past Master, and he was also a member and Post High Priest of the Shelby Royal Arch Masons Chapter #178.

He is survived by his one son Robert E. (Peggy) Ellis, Jr. of Ashland; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; his nephew William Burge of Mansfield; and his son-in-law Thomas Watkins of Shelby.

In addition to his parents his was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Linn) Ellis in 2017; his son William J. Ellis in 2015 and his daughters Elizabeth A. Watkins in 2019, and daughter Janet Ellis in 2022; and a sister, Barbara Ann Burge.

Private family funeral services will be held with interment taking place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
