Marie was born December 19, 1937, in Dallas County, IA, to John and Louise (Forret) Hanlon. She married Jerry Hooper on July 20, 1957, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. She and Jerry made their home in Dallas Center, where they raised their sons.
Marie worked for Fox Insurance in D.C. for 8 years, when she decided to go down a different path. She received a job at Hy-Line where she continued her career for 20 years.
Marie enjoyed spending countless hours with her family. They were the light of her life. She also enjoyed traveling around the world and learning about all of the beautiful new places she went. If she wasn't with her family or traveling, you would find her in her garden. She loved all thing about her garden and had a huge passion for the hobby.
She is survived by her two sons, John (Michele) Hooper and James (Tonya Davis) Hooper; grandchildren, Heather Hooper, Andrew Hooper, Elaine Meyers and Beverly McKenna and sister, Cathy Vogel.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three infant sons, sisters, Frances and Jane and brother John Hanlon.
