HOWLAND — Doris K. Young, 89, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland, with her family at her side. Born April 25, 1933, to Frank and Euphemia Keeley, Doris graduated from Howland High School, Class of 1951. Doris had a heart of gold and the gift of gab. She lit up every room and made friends with all she met. Doris loved to hear her children and grandchildren play music and attended every concert. She could be found every Sunday at Howland United Methodist Church, where she was a beloved member of the congregation. Doris exemplified Christian love and inspired all she met. Doris loved training her cats, helping her neighbors and crocheting for her grandkids. She was past president of the Bolindale Booster Club and was a member of the Howland Band Boosters and Howland Township Fire Department Auxiliary. We rejoice in her reunion with the love of her life, Kenneth E. Young, who passed in 1997, as well as her parents. She had an extraordinary work ethic, which she passed on to her children. Doris provided janitorial services at various companies for many years. At the age of 70, she decided to become a direct care giver for Siffrin Inc., where she worked for 10 years, until retiring at the age of 80. Serving as the Democrat Committee person for Bolindale and working 40 years for the board of elections as a poll worker, gave her great joy. Doris was married to Kenneth E. Young from June 23, 1951 until his passing on Feb. 17, 1997. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Ken (Marty) Young of Cortland, Nancy (Dennis) Moore of Milford, Lori Johnson of Niles and Jill (Len) Redmond of Warren; her sister, Hazel Barto of Cortland; her grandchildren, Chris (Jodye) Moore, Dr. Alexis (Larry) Moore Crisp, Heather (Eduardo) Mandujano, Michael Young (fiancee, Jackie Stevens), Patrick Mancinetti, Julie (Tim) Post, Melissa Karr and David Johnson; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her siblings, Frank (Bud) Keeley and Don Keeley and Martha Hannon; and her son-in-law, Thomas Johnson. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Shepherd of the Valley in Howland and Hospice of the Valley staff for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the Young family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sleep in Heavenly Peace Trumbull County. A funeral service will be 11 AM Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, Warren, where friends may call one hour prior the time of the service. Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna. Masks are required for viewing and services. Caring and professional arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road NE, Warren, OH 44483. This obituary may be viewed and condolences sent to www.statonborowskifuneralhome.com.
