Born April 16, 1932, in Asheville, Mrs. Kisselburg was the daughter of the late Marriott Rickman Capps and Selma Louise (Harrison) Capps.
Barbara was the oldest of five sisters. Her father was a dairyman on the Biltmore Estate where she lived from age 12 to 18. She was a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College. Barbara moved with her family to Fairbanks, Alaska, in 1965 where she taught at University Park Elementary School until returning to Old Fort in 1977.
Barbara appreciated life and knew that the quality of life was more than simply the number of years lived on this earth. She loved her sisters dearly and the visits they shared remembering their past. She treasured her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and cherished the memories they made with each adventure together.
She is survived by two sons, Mark Kisselburg and wife Diann of Riverside, Calif., and Eric Kisselburg and wife Dara of Shelby, three grandchildren, Heather Bryson and husband David of Shelby, Laura Newton and husband Jonathan of Shelby, and Caleb Kisselburg of Chino, Calif., four great-grandchildren, Madison Bryson, Makenzie Bryson, Piper Bryson, and Sydney Bryson, four sisters, Sarah Morrow of Statesville, Nancy Benfield of Wilkesboro, Rixie Cline of Statesville, and Nina Houston of Statesville.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel, conducted by Dr. James Richardson.
A graveside service for family will follow at 2 p.m., at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Pine Cove Road, Old Fort."
