Essie Mae Talley, 96, born July 11, 1925, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022 at her home with family by her side. She was born and raised in Savannah. Ms. Talley leaves behind four daughters, Patricia Jo Talley Crenshaw (Travis), Nora Denise Talley Nelson (Brad), Tonia Regina Talley Massey (Larry) and Tina Abigail Talley Keen (Eric); one son, James Douglas Talley (Liz); seventeen grandchildren and thirty three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Seamon Hinton and Tinnia Claira Bell Pitts Glover; her husband of 34 years, James Thomas Talley; one son, Danny Wayne Talley; one daughter, Marcia Talley Ward (Richard); four brothers, James Thomas Wallace, Eugene Younger, Grover Younger and Richard D. Glover; and one great great grandson, Aiden Eubanks.

Essie was a devout Christian who read her Bible through and through and a longtime member of Longview Heights Baptist Church in Olive Branch, MS. She was a kind, loving and caring woman who loved being around family and friends. In her free time she enjoyed puzzles, word searches, watching her favorite Shirley Temple and John Wayne movies, cooking and having buttermilk and cornbread, and lets not forget her pickles.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 24, 2022 from 10-12p.m. at Longview Heights Baptist Church with funeral services starting at 12:00p.m. Burial will follow at Forest Hill South Cemetery 2545 E Holmes Rd., Memphis, TN 38118.
