Asena died in 1863, and is likely buried in a family cemetery on SHEPPARD land in the Black Creek-Middle Ground community of Screven County. Byous & Asena had ten children, born 1837-1858:

In addition, when typhoid (or another disease) took both Byous' younger brother, Barton L. BOYKIN in 1858 & his wife, Sarah Emily ENECKS, in January of 1860, Byous and his other brothers took charge of their six orphaned children; one of them, Sarah Catherine BOYKIN WILLIAMS, "Mesh" (born 1847), was raised in Byous' household.
