Parents are Alfred Gilbert and Mary Ellen Bullock. Jim was married to Lena Door. They had three children, Helen Baker, Viola Abigil Gilbert, and Mary Mellinger. He had nine brother's & sister's: Drusilla Abigail Morrow, Myrl Gilbert, Fred Gilbert, Orval Rollins Gilbert, Alice Nora Wilson, Floyd Gilbert, Lloyd Gilbert, Florence Barnett, & Ernest John Gilbert. Jim worked for the Frisco Rail Road, and was killed by lightening while working. His parents raised his two living children after he was killed.
