Billie M. Barnes, 85, of Locust, NC (formally of Fairmont) passed away Monday, August 1, 2022 at Novant (Presbyterian Hospital) in Charlotte, NC. She was born in Lumberton, NC to the late Charles Worth McCormick and late Arva B McCormick.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Horace M. Barnes, her daughter Lisa M. Helms, her sisters Doris Harvey, Martha Blevins, Jane Hutchinson, and Mary Elizabeth McCormick, and her brother C.W. McCormick.
She is survived by her son, Robert F. McNabb (Angie), her daughter, Laura M. Whitley (Rick), her sister, Ida Rose Lewis, her grandchildren: A.J. McNabb (Maura), Jordan McNabb (Dani), Amber Pierce (Tyler), Dustin Whitley, her great grandchildren: Kayden Pierce, Cooper Pierce, Henlyn Smith, Shane McNabb, Finnegan McNabb, Cullen McNabb, Briar McNabb, and very special neighbors whom she loved.
Billie was a loving Mother, sister and friend and had a long time career at United Carolina Bank (now Truist) where she retired after 32 years. She was a life long member of First Baptist Church in Fairmont, NC and loved her church and her home of Fairmont.
A graveside family and close friends service will be held on 8/13/22 at Fairmont Cemetery in Fairmont, NC at 2pm.
