Margaret was the daughter of John and Ann (Wendell) White. She was most likely born in Jackson County about 1809. She came to Washington County, Illinois with her family about 1812. She married George W. Pate about 1826. They had seven children: William, Lucinda, Lewis, John Fletcher, Mary, Sarah and Joseph. Following her death George married Jane Ledbetter on 7 May 1845. George and his family moved to Brush Creek, Washington, Arkansas where he was living in 1850. By 1860 the family had moved to Collin County, Texas. George died in Denton, Texas on 25 Jul 1867.
