PICKENS, SC - Mrs. Martha Jane McCombs Masters, 72, wife of William F. (Willie) Masters of the Griffin Community, died at 3:45 p.m. Sunday at her home after 15 years of declining health and four weeks of illness.
Born in Pickens County where she lived most of her life, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Miller McCombs. She was a former textile employee and was a member of the Griffin Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Larry W. Masters of Easley, Glazner Masters of Pickens and Sgt. Claude B. Masters of Andrews AFB, Maryland; a daughter, Mrs. Wilton (Jon Mary) Wade of Pickens; a brother, Johnny McCombs of Greenville; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Clayton-Dillard Funeral Home.
The body is at the mortuary and will be taken to the home at 3 p.m. Monday.

PICKENS, SC - Funeral services for Mrs. Martha McCombs Masters, 72, wife of W. F. Masters, who died Sunday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Griffin Baptist Church by Rev. G. B. Freeman, Rev. Garland Sentell and Rev. Marion Hudgens. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Oscar and Charles Masters, Hansel and Johnny McCombs, Albert and Curtis Skelton, Elbert Day and Arnold Roper.
Honorary escort will be the deacons of Griffin Baptist Church and Paul Gibson, M. A. Evett, Roscoe Bagwell, Charlie Hicks, D. T. P. Valley, Hamp Day, Dr. J. D. Yongue, Dr. Bird Lewis, Lloyd Mayfield, L. A. Cantrell, Jim Hendricks, C. E. Freeman, Hamp Wade, Lonnie McCall, Osie Trotter, Ed Stickle and Vaughn Garrett.
The body is at the home and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Clayton-Dillard Funeral Home is in charge.
