John Lee Spears, age 74, a Business Owner and resident of Porterville, California, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022.

The family of Johnny Lee (John) Spears is saddened to announce that our beloved John passed away on August 3rd at Sierra View Medical Center in Porterville.
John was born March 26, 1948 in Woodlake to Homer Lee (Buck) Spears and Mary Hazel Wingfield Spears. He lived his entire life in Porterville. He was a graduate of Porterville Union High School. Shortly after graduation John entered the lumber management arena, working 30 years with Copeland Lumber, and ended his career as owner/manager of Friends Lumber in Porterville. Throughout his adult life, following in the footsteps of generations of fine carpenters, John was a carpenter extraordinaire. The last few years, he enjoyed building and selling wooden Old Glory flags in various dimensions, as well as flags of different countries.
John is pre-deceased by his parents and his wife, Susan Gail Knudson Spears.
He is survived by his son, Chad Lee Spears, and Granddaughter Megan Rose Spears of Tulare; sisters Linda Ann Spears Johnson of Porterville, Betty Louise Spears Miller of Cameron Park, and Pamela Renee Spears of Sacramento; an uncle, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and friends.
A memorial gathering will take place later this Summer.
