Mrs. Lucretia Arnold, well known resident of Mason City, passed away at ALM Hospital, December 6 after a long and painful illness. Her husband Richard preceded her in death, January 18, 1966.
She was born 1883 in New Holland, a daughter of Anna Holland Thompson and George Thompson and a granddaughter of Oliver W. Holland, pioneer settler of Mason and Logan counties as well as founder of the village of New Holland.
Her girlhood was spent with her grandfather where she attended and graduated from New Holland school. Here she met and married Richard Arnold, who was at the time principal of New Holland Schools. Most of their married life was spent on a farm west and near Mason City, part of the original estate of her grandfather. Later ill health forced them to leave the farm and take up residence in the Brinner flats in Mason City.
Mrs. Arnold was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Mason City as well as an Eastern Star.
Her nearest living relatives are Mrs. D. F. Nickols, an aunt and also two uncles both residents of Mason County, James G. Holland and D. Logan Holland.
Her departure will be mourned by all who knew her.
