"WATERVLIET -- Beatrice M. Burns, 75, of Watervliet, beloved wife of the late John W. Burns for 53 years, died suddenly Sunday, July 30, 2000 at her residence. Born in Ellenburg, she was the daughter of the late George and Frances McCoy McKinney. As a young girl, she moved from Ellenburg to Cropseyville. She was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1942 and a graduate of the Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1945. She was employed by the Norton Company in Watervliet as the industrial nurse for over 17 years and retired in 1987. Bea was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Watervliet where she currently served as an elder and former Sunday School teacher as well as many committees within the church. She was a member of the Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing Alumni and an honorary member of the Watervliet High School 39'RS Club. She was a member of the Norton Retirees Club and currently serving as the vice president. Bea has resided in Watervliet since 1987 and lived in Clifton Park for over 20 years and in Latham for 14 years prior to that. Survivors include her loving children, John W. (Jack) Burns, Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Hamilton, OH, Lisa Villani and her husband, Paul of Watervliet, Susan Burns (Steven McCann) of Albany; five cherished grandchildren, Andrew Burns of Baltimore, MD, Elaine Burns of Hamilton, OH, Daniel McCann and Megan McCann of Albany and Morgana Villani of Watervliet; a brother, George M. McKinney of Latham and her sister, Grace Pelleschi of Albany. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bea was predeceased by her son, David A. Burns, two infant children, Janet and Peter Burns and a brother, Bernard McKinney. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, 819 23rd Street, Watervliet with Rev. Kathleen LaRocque officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Memory's Garden in Colonie. Contributions to the First Presbyterian Church of Watervliet, 819 23rd Street, Watervliet, NY 12189 or the charity of one's choice in memory of Bea Burns, would be appreciated."
