Walton James Grinke Of Fredericksburg passed away on August 1, 2022 at the age of 90. He was born on Easter morning March 27, 1932.
Walton enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17. He received a "Fleet appointment" to the U.S. Naval Academy, graduated and was commissioned as a U.S. Naval Officer. He received a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His varied military career included serving as an Exchange officer with the Royal Canadian Navy and an Advisor to the Republic Viet Nam Navy.
After retirement from the Navy, he served as Director of Physical Plant at the University of Texas at San Antonio, until he retired again from public service.
He enjoyed his garden, peach and pecan trees and occasional round of golf.
He is survived by his wife Betty, two daughters, and four grand-children.
Predeceased by parents Willie and Olga (Burrer) Grinke and brother William Grinke.
