Mrs. A. J. Adams who has made her home with her son Jas. S. Adams for several years, died at the ranch on the upper Antoine one day last week and was buried in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Chelan on Thursday.

Reference number 18Martha Steele was the daughter of James Steele and Mary Matilda White Steele. She was born February 22, 1822 in Randolph County, Illinois, and she married William Carol Campbell (February 21, 1815-July 19, 1847) about 1839. They had four children:

1) Matilda Jane Campbell, born May 23, 1840, in Randolph County, Illinois.
2) Mary H. Campbell, born 1841
3) Susan Harriet Campbell, born August 29, 1842, in Randolph County.
4) Clarinda Campbell, born October 7, 1844, in Randolph County.

After the death of William Carol Campbell, Martha married Andrew Jackson Adams (September 13, 1823-August 4, 1909) on December 6, 1849, and they had two children:

5) James Samuel Adams, born October 1, 1851, in Leadmine, Lafayette County, Wisconsin; died August 13, 1933, in Chelan, Washington. He married Laura A. Greening on August 2, 1885, and they had two children: Gracie Allen Adams, born November 24, 1890, and Anna Laura Adams, born January 23, 1900.
6) Margaret Augusta Adams, born September 12, 1857, in Leadmine, Lafayette County, Wisconsin; died January 13, 1896, in Waukon, Lincoln County, Washington. She married William Thomas Goodman on June 29, 1876, and they had seven children: Addie May Goodman, William Frank Goodman, Mark Edwin Goodman, Fred Oren Goodman, Charles Grant Goodman, Etta Pearl Goodman, and Loren Clyde Goodman.
