Mrs. Anthony Marseilles.

Another of the earlier settlers in Vernon passed away last Saturday in the death of Mrs. A. Marselles. She was more or less an invalid for the last six years suffering two strokes of paralysis and last spring falling and breaking her hip bone and being ill from then till death came. The funeral occurred from the home Tuesday, Rev. G.W. Maxwell preaching the sermon, and interment was made at Cherry Grove.

Rose Ann Hubert was born at Colburn, Ont., in 1830. There she grew to womanhood and was married to Anthony Marseilles. In 1871 they moved to Michigan locating at Saginaw. Twenty-one years ago they moved to Vernon township and located on the farm where he still reside, doing their part to make the township what it is now. Ten children were born to them of whom eight survive: Mrs. Geo. Raymond of Saginaw, John and Mrs. John Asline of Vernon, Andrew of Duluth, Minn., Mrs. Eliza McKinzie at home, Anthony of Vernon, Mrs. Michael Lappan of Saginaw, and Mrs. John Hodkinson of Vernon, all of whom but Andrew were present at the funeral. Twenty-four grandchildren and eleven great grand-children survive.

Deceased was highly regarded by all who knew her as attested by the very large funeral and the many floral offering. She was a member of the Church of God and conscious almost the very last peacefully passed away.

Date of birth on death certificate is 14 Sep 1830, aged 75 years, 9 months, and 26 days. Married for a first time at age 17. Parent of 10 children, 8 of whom are living. She died of general debility complicated by a fractured hip.
