She was born August 23, 1932, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late James William Boyd and Sarah Alice DeBord Boyd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah Ball and Edna Tabor, and four brothers, Roy, Dewitt, Ralph, and Raymond Boyd.
She is survived by two sons, Ricky D. Lewis (Debbie) and Mark A. Lewis (Brenda) and three grandsons, Frank Jacob Lewis, Ricky Dalton Lewis, and Matthew Alan Lewis (Skyler), all of Morehead, as well as extended family, including her church family, and many friends.
Virgie was a former Cowden Mfg. employee and retired from Morehead State University, where she worked in the ADUC Cafeteria for a number of years. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, quilting and sewing, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Salt Lick Freewill Baptist Church and loved reading the Bible, going to church, and helping others. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Andy Lands officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise-Sunset Cemetery on Old House Creek Road. Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
