Margaret Yoe Heck was born in what today is the town of Kettering in Montgomery County, Ohio. She moved with her parents, John and Venia Yo(h)e to Shelby County, Indiana before 1850. She married Isaac Heck, March 1, 1855 in Shelby County. Her sister, Lavina, had previously married Aaron Heck, brother of Isaac. In February and March of 1860, Isaac and Margaret lost their two oldest children to scarlet fever as did Aaron and Lavina. Another child died in 1861. Before 1870 both Isaac and Aaron moved to White County, Indiana. In March, 1872, Isaac and Margaret lost two more children in White County. Aaron and Lavina lost a child in July of 1875 and we believe this is what prompted Isaac and Margaret to leave Indiana for Texas. Stopped at Green Ridge by an early snow they stayed the winter and in 1876 purchased a farm in Washington Township. After retiring they moved to Green Ridge.
