The funeral of the late Mrs. Lettie Lewis, widow of the late J. K. Lewis, took place at the residence of Mr. J. C. Sutton, on Jefferson street, yesterday afternoon. In conducting the services, Rev. Fred Wines was very happy in his remarks, and said it seemed more like a coronation than a funeral. This lovely christian woman had lived beyond the usual three score and ten years, and had reached the four score, which was, at best, labor and sorrow, and to go and be "forever with the Lord" was desirable.

Forty-one years ago she removed from New Jersey to this city, and united with the old First Presbyterian church. Many persons present had known her all these years, and to know her was to love and respect, on account of her gentle ways and kindly bearing to all whom she met. The rendering of the beautiful hymn, "Forever With the Lord," closed one of the most impressive funeral services ever attended in Springfield.
