Actor. Born Thomas Edward Brown in New York City, New York, he began his career as a child model. He posed for Buster Brown, Buick Boy & The Arrow Collar Boy. He attended the Professional Children's School in New York City, a school for child actors, models and entertainers. He is best-remembered for the roles of Gilbert Blythe in "Anne of Green Gables" (1934), Richard Gates Jr. in "Navy Blue and Gold" (1937), Bob O'Leary in "In Old Chicago" (1938) & Smilin' Jack in the Universal B-movie serials, "The Adventures of Smilin' Jack" (1943). Brown joined the U.S. Army during World War II (WWII), rising through the ranks up to lieutenant. He fought as a paratrooper in France, receiving the Bronze Star Medal & Croix de Guerre honors for his service. As a member of the 40th Infantry, he rose to the position of captain. He became lieutenant colonel during the Korean War. He made various TV guest star appearances on shows such as: "Gunsmoke," "General Hospital," "Days of Our Lives," "Ellery Queen," "The Jeffersons," "The High Chaparral," "Mister Roberts," and more, even having a on-off role for "Mr. Lucky." He died at the Motion Picture Country Home & Hospital in Woodland Hills, California. For his contributions to motion pictures, he has a a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, located at 1648 Vine St.
