Services Held Tuesday For Emma Tadlock, 98
Sarah Emily Swaim Tadlock, the daughter of Levi and Matilda Swaim, was born in Putnam County, Missouri on Feb. 21, 1875 and passed away at the Golden Age Manor in Centerville on Feb. 25, 1973 at the age of 98 years and 4 days. Emma was the fourth child in a family of eleven brothers and sisters. With her parents, Emma moved at an early age to Unionville, Iowa vicinity and remained there until her marriage.
On April 11, 1879 she was married to John Alexander Tadlock. To this union two sons were born: Lee and Grant. They remained in the Miller church neighborhood until retirement at which time they moved to Moravia.
Emma was a member of the Miller Baptist church and attended regularly until moving into Moravia and her hearing failed. Since 1960, Emma, as she liked to be called, resided at the Golden Age Manor in Centerville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John who passed away on January 2, 1958; five brothers, Johnny, Robert, William, Frank and Clarence; two sisters, Josephine Schley and Mary Shepard.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her two sons: Lee and Grant Tadlock of Moravia; a brother Austin Swaim of Ottumwa; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Ogden of Sedro Woolley, Washington and Mrs. Grace Main of Alexandria, Va,; eight grandchildren, 24 greatgrandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
