Willie Lee Flowers, 58, of Gainesville, passed away July 9, 2022 in Gainesville.

Willie was born to Thomas Calvin Flowers, Sr. and Dorothy Louise Flowers in Gainesville on April 5, 1964. He was joined in marriage to Vashunda Leggins on May 25, 2022. His son, Willaim Lee Flowers was born to him by his previous wife, Mary Flowers. Vashunda and Willie have a granddaughter named Faith Leggins and a grandson named Alonzo Sanders. He leaves behind to mourn his passing three brothers: Jerald Overstreet, Thomas Calvin Flowers, Jr., and Lanny Hendrix. He also leaves behind five sisters: Margaret Jackson, Margie Byrd, Kathy Sanders, Susan Mack, and Evelyn Flowers. Survivors also include: mother-in-law Glenda Leggins, sisters-in-law Regena Leggins and Denise Leggins, and brother-in-law Robert Leggins. He leaves behind too many friends and extended family to mention, including a multitude of nieces and nephews. Willie was preceded in death by both parents, one male sibling, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He said he was blessed to have met Vashunda and was so thankful for the time they had together. Willie was known to play pranks on his family and friends. Willie won many awards and plaques from his job at North Texas Medical Center. He also worked for Brown Motor Co. for a number of years beside his father, T.C. Flowers, until his father retired. Most recently, Willie was employed at WinStar Casino until his passing. He often said his greatest achievements were his 20+ years of service to his country and his family, especially his wife and son William. Willie had just started a journey of love and happiness with his wife, Vashunda Flowers and had so many things he wanted to share with her and show her. Those that knew him know that he was thankful for the precious time they had together. He will forever be remembered and missed.

A funeral service with military honors is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
