B. F. Gerking's Funeral Friday
The funeral services for Benjamin Franklin Gerking, aged 82, who dropped dead at his Pine Grove orchard home the morning of Memorial Day, were held at 2 o'clock Friday at the Bartmess chapel. Interment followed at Idlewilde cemetery. Rev. J. B. Lister officiated.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerking were at home alone at the time of the fatal attack. The latter walked a quarter of a mile to a neighbor's to report her husband's death. Mr. Gerking, a native of Indiana, was a pioneer of Umatilla county. He lived in South Bend, Wash., before coming here with his family in 1900. The following children survive: Mrs. D. M. Jackson, of Portland; Joseph Gerking, of Pendleton, and Mrs. L. Dreske, of Hood River.
